Civil Disobediene
I have chosen to write about The Civil Rights Movement of
the 1960's. i have read "Coming of Age in Mississippi" this
story is about the civil rights movement in 1963. The NAACP
is a group of people that try to help African Americans in
getting their equal rights. The story "Coming of Age in
Mississippi" is about a boy in college trying to prove to his
parents that he is able to do it with out their help. This boy has
gotten kicked out of his dorm room because he doesn't have
money to pay for it. he has become great friends with his social
science professor who happens to be in charge of the NAACP
activities on campus.
The reason for this movement was so the African American
can have equal rights there is a saying "equal rights but
separate" and that is not equal rights because they are still
being segregated and they are being treated different then the
others. The boy and three other students from his school have
gone to a restaurant and had sat in the front to eat the waitress
walked by them many times and she finally went up to the
three African Americans on of them has said "our waitress
walked past us a couple of times before she had noticed we had
started to write down our orders.
